The WNBA has named Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell and Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson its Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for August.
For Mitchell, the honor caps a sensational month in which she emerged as one of the league’s most explosive scorers.
Mitchell averaged 28.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game during August while shooting 55.6% from the field and 53.4% from three-point range. She scored a league-high 318 points during the month.
The Indiana guard was particularly dominant from beyond the arc, continuing what has been one of the best shooting seasons of her career. Mitchell also helped the Fever maintain their position near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
For Wilson, the August honor adds another accolade to an already decorated 2026 campaign.
The four-time WNBA MVP continued to dominate for Las Vegas, averaging 25.0 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game during August.
Wilson’s production helped the Aces remain among the WNBA’s top teams heading into the league’s September break for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Mitchell Continues to Make History
Mitchell’s August performance was more than just another Player of the Month campaign.
The veteran guard has established herself as a major offensive force for a Fever team that also features Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. Mitchell’s scoring surge has fueled conversations surrounding Indiana’s dynamic backcourt and her place among the league’s top players.
Her August numbers were especially impressive considering she averaged nearly 29 points per game while shooting above 53% from three-point range.
The Fever enter the final stretch of the regular season with Mitchell playing some of the best basketball of her career.

The Aces center remains one of the league’s most complete players, impacting games as a scorer, rebounder and elite rim protector. Her August production further strengthened her case as one of the WNBA’s most dominant players.
